Piping/Drumming Tuition Terms
- Formal tuition runs in 2 blocks – October through January and February
through May – with informal tuition sessions running from June through
September.
- The cost of formal tuition is currently £20 per block, irrespective
of the number of sessions attended, and payment should be made to the
head of tuition at the start of each block, or upon enrolment.
- Free informal tuition sessions (one per month) will be arranged to
maintain student progress over the band competition months of June
through September, although are indented for existing students only.
- All tuition sessions will be held on Wednesday nights between 7.00pm
and 8.00pm, with intermediate students joining the main band practice at
times as and when they are ready to do so.
- Students will be grouped according to ability and there will be a
continuous assessment process whereby they progress to the next level
when they are deemed ready by the Pipe Major / Pipe Sergeant or Leading
Drummer / Drum Sergeant.
- Progress will be monitored and a progress sheet will be held by the
head of tuition with a copy also being kept by the student.
- There will be no pressure put on students as to their rate of
progression in the early stages – the pace of progression before they
join the main band will be dictated by the students own natural ability
– we do however expect pupils to make reasonable progress from week to
week and we reserve the right to terminate tuition at the end of any
block of lessons if we deem necessary.
- Parents/guardians are welcome to attend any tuition session to
discuss the progress of their child.
